Website change plan · SEO and GEO · 23 September 2026

The site still speaks the old buyer language and hides who EKU is. 42 weighted changes fix it, and the first 10 take one week.

A crawl of all 46 pages on 23 September found wording not approved for buyer pages on four pages, starting with the home page headline, the approved category term on none, empty identity data for Google and AI assistants, a duplicate EKU site in search and a broken Maximus address. Search Console adds two more: the power generation page has never appeared in Google, and 37% of Googlebot's visits end on dead addresses. Nothing built in the 90 days is on the site yet.

42

3 need a quick EKU decision, none waits for a sign-off.

How to read this plan. Score = search 20% + AI answers 20% + commercial value 20% + urgency 15% + ease 15% + confidence 10%. Status: Ready (no approval needed), Gated (needs a sign-off already on the calendar) or Needs an EKU decision. Every row opens to show why, how and who.

Story room · four scenes

Four scenes explain the whole plan in two minutes.

The site still uses wording EKU no longer uses with buyers.

The home page headline still leads with 'Multi-OEM', 'OEM-agnostic', kept for investor material only, appears on four buyer pages, and 'mixed-brand generator fleets' appears on none. One day of editing fixes it.

1 Get the power generation page into Google 94 Week 1 Ready Backend and technical 1 day, then 1 to 3 weeks for Google
Why

/power-generation, the page for EKU's growth segment, has had 0 impressions in Search Console since November 2025, although it is in the sitemap and in the main menu of every page. Twelve pages are reported as crawled but not indexed.

How to do it
  1. Search Console > URL Inspection > https://www.ekupd.com/power-generation: read the status and click Request indexing.
  2. Do not spend time on links: the page is already in the main menu of every page (68 internal links, one click from the home page).
  3. Export the 'Crawled, currently not indexed' list and request indexing for the product and industry pages in it.
  4. Request indexing again the day the rewritten page goes live.

2 Replace investor-only wording on four buyer pages 84 Week 1 Ready Brand language on the live site 1 day
Why

The home page H1 reads 'Multi-OEM Compatible Platform'. 'OEM-agnostic' (governance note of 31 Jul: kept for investor material, not for buyer pages) appears on the home page, /industries, /maximus and in the /power-generation description that Google shows. 'Chip-to-cloud SaaS' is a heading on /maximus. The approved term 'mixed-brand generator fleets' appears 0 times on the site.

How to do it
  1. Home H1: replace with 'Controls and monitoring for mixed-brand generator fleets'.
  2. Replace that wording with 'cross-manufacturer integration' in technical copy and 'mixed-brand generator fleets' in buyer copy (home, /industries, /maximus).
  3. /power-generation: Page settings > SEO > rewrite the description (Squarespace reuses it for the social card).
  4. /maximus: replace the 'Chip-to-cloud SaaS' heading with the approved mechanism wording (the Maximus ecosystem: Maximus and Sophia working as one system).
  5. The marketing lead re-crawls the site the same day to confirm zero occurrences.

3 Take the duplicate EKU website out of search 84 Week 1 Needs an EKU decision Backend and technical 1 day
Why

ekupd.odoo.com is a second, indexable site titled 'Home | EKU Power Drives' with a template phone number (+1 555-555-5556) and generic copy. It appears among the first web results for the brand name (23 Sep), so search engines and AI assistants can read the wrong phone and the wrong description.

How to do it
  1. If the Odoo website is not used: unpublish it or restrict it to signed-in users.
  2. If it is used (portal or shop): remove the template phone and generic text, add noindex (Website > Settings) and link the logo and contact to ekupd.com.
  3. If the Odoo domain is verified in Search Console, request removal of its URLs.

4 Redirect the broken addresses, starting with Maximus 80 Week 1 Ready Backend and technical Half a day
Why

/maximus-controls returns 404 today. In Search Console it carried Maximus' search visibility (1,507 impressions and 25 clicks since November 2025) while the new /maximus has 86 impressions and 1 click. In the last 90 days, 37% of Googlebot's requests to the site ended in a 404.

How to do it
  1. Settings > Website > Developer tools > URL mappings: add '/maximus-controls -> /maximus 301'.
  2. Search Console > Settings > Crawl stats > Not found (404), and Indexing > Pages > Not found (404): export the URLs.
  3. Map every old address that has a current equivalent with a 301; leave true dead pages as 404.
  4. Include the old addresses that still receive real links from other sites: /home.php and /index/index.php, both to the home page.
  5. Validate the fix in the Pages report so Google recrawls.

5 Build the remote generator monitoring page 80 Weeks 2 to 5 Gated New content and pages 2 weeks
Why

About 600 US searches a month with difficulty 2 to 5: 'generator monitoring system' (320), 'remote generator monitoring' (140), 'generator remote monitoring' (140). EKU is absent from all three and no rival closed them since August.

How to do it
  1. One page at /remote-generator-monitoring: what it is, how Sophia and Maximus monitor generators of different brands, which data and alerts, how integration works.
  2. Each H2 is a buyer question with a 40 to 60 word direct answer under it; a table 'monitoring vs orchestration'; 5 FAQs.
  3. SoftwareApplication and FAQPage schema in the page header injection; links from /sophia, /maximus and the home page.
  4. Engineering reviews the technical claims before publishing.

6 Publish the rewritten home, Maximus and power-generation pages 79 Weeks 2 to 5 Gated On-page (existing pages) 2 weeks, from 15 Oct
Why

The new copy is written with the approved language (web content pack, 18 Sep). Today these pages still carry the old buyer wording and score 79, 88 and 77 on the heuristic GEO readiness check.

How to do it
  1. Apply the 40 page changes already specified (Home 9, Power Generation 14, Maximus 17) section by section, keeping the current design.
  2. Keep the /maximus H1: it already holds an AI answer citation.
  3. H2s as buyer questions, a direct answer under each, a FAQ block at the end.
  4. Internal links to the case studies and the monitoring page; update titles and descriptions at the same time.

Gate Technical claims sign-off (D05, 17 items), now dated 15 Oct. Do not publish the Power Asset Readiness block until the Stage 3 decision.

7 Publish the two case studies (ESC frac fleet and the mixed-brand reference fleet) 78 Weeks 2 to 5 Gated New content and pages 1 day each, after the permissions
Why

Both packages are built: page, Squarespace code block, schema and one-pager. Of three written cases, none is published, and no tracked rival publishes a mixed-brand case with numbers.

How to do it
  1. Create /case-studies/ and the two case pages from the packages (code block plus header injection with Article and FAQPage).
  2. Link them from the home page, /power-generation and /oil-gas.
  3. Submit the new URLs in Search Console the same day.

8 Turn the idle management page into the pillar EKU already owns 77 Weeks 2 to 5 Ready On-page (existing pages) 1 week
Why

EKU ranks #4 for 'idle management' and #5 for 'idle management systems', and Google's AI answer already quotes the page (seen 15 Sep). Search Console shows the page is seen but not chosen: about 1,000 impressions on page 1 for those two searches and 1 click since November 2025. The results page is shared with truck idle systems and idle games.

How to do it
  1. Title and H1 with the qualifier: 'Industrial idle management for generators and heavy engines'.
  2. Add 5 FAQs, a short how-it-works diagram, and links to the ESC page and the ESC case study.
  3. FAQPage and Product schema; links from the home page and /oil-gas.

Why

'Generator control panel' (260 a month, difficulty 2) and 'power plant control system' (170, difficulty 3) have the same demand as in August. Observed: EKU was absent in the 22 September reading. Working Hypothesis: a new page may improve its visibility.

How to do it
  1. One page for Maximus with GeneSys and the Control Box: what a control panel does, what changes when the fleet mixes brands, how plant control works.
  2. Same structure as the monitoring page: question H2s, direct answers, a table, FAQ, Product schema.

10 Tell Google and AI assistants who EKU is: complete the structured data 74 Weeks 2 to 5 Ready Backend and technical 1 week
Why

All 46 pages carry only two automatic blocks: WebSite (description empty) and LocalBusiness (address and hours empty). There is no Organization, product, breadcrumb or FAQ markup.

How to do it
  1. First confirm the Squarespace plan includes Code Injection (Core, Plus or Advanced).
  2. Settings > Business Information: fill name and hours now, address and phone after the office move (fixes the empty LocalBusiness).
  3. Settings > Marketing > SEO: fill the site description (fixes the empty WebSite).
  4. Code injection, header, sitewide: Organization with legal names of both entities, founding year 2015, logo and sameAs links (LinkedIn, Crunchbase, Facebook).
  5. Page header injection: SoftwareApplication for Maximus and Sophia, Product for GeneSys, ESC and Control Box, BreadcrumbList; FAQPage only where the FAQ is visible.
  6. Use the JSON-LD already written in the GEO on-page pack v2; settle its three Organization variants first.
  7. Validate every URL in Google's Rich Results Test.

Gate No installation counts or brand compatibility lists inside the markup until engineering confirms the figures and the compatibility wording.

11 Rewrite titles and descriptions of the pages that sell 74 Weeks 2 to 5 Ready On-page (existing pages) 3 days
Why

16 descriptions pass 160 characters and get cut in results; the home title is generic. Search Console shows pages seen and not clicked: /industries 4,805 impressions at 0.17% click rate, /solutions 0.36% at position 3.6, /idle-management-solutions 0.54%, /about-eku 0.74%. 'Maximus controller' results are dominated by a poultry-farm controller brand, so the product name alone does not identify EKU.

How to do it
  1. Page settings > SEO for home, /maximus, /sophia, /power-generation, /oil-gas, /mining, /idle-management-solutions, /engine-standby-controller-esc and /genesys-switchgear.
  2. Titles under 55 characters with the buyer term first (for example 'Maximus: controls for mixed-brand generator fleets').

Why

Buyers compare controllers with fleet platforms before they call, and none of the rivals read has comparison pages. Pages that name a rival brand need a leadership sign-off, so the first one stays generic.

How to do it
  1. Page 'Genset controller or fleet orchestration platform: how to choose' with a neutral comparison table.

How to do it

16 Put the key specs on readable pages, not only in PDFs 68 Months 2 and 3 Gated New content and pages 3 weeks
Why

The download center links 41 PDFs stored on Squarespace's file server, with no form in between. They get used (GA4: at least 10 downloads by 6 visitors from 25 Jul to 23 Sep, most of them after a product page, led by the ESC page), but since November 2025 Google has shown only 9 datasheets (119 impressions, 3 clicks in total) and never the Maximus or Sophia ones. Specifications that only live in PDFs are hard for search engines and AI assistants to quote.

How to do it
  1. Add a Specifications section (HTML table) to the Maximus, Sophia, GeneSys, Control Box and ESC pages with the non-sensitive specs.
  2. The one-page datasheets are already open; keep them open. If sales wants leads, gate only full manuals.

28 Count the leads: turn on GA4 key events 56 Weeks 2 to 5 Needs an EKU decision Measurement 1 week
Why

GA4 has been collecting since July 2026 and no key events are set up yet. There is no LinkedIn or advertising tag because EKU runs no paid campaigns. Downloads already fire (file_download, at least 10 in two months), so they only need to be marked. GA4 sees 160 organic sessions in the month in which Search Console counts 350 Google clicks: the cookie banner likely hides half of the visits.

How to do it
  1. Use the event list already specified: form submit, spec download, demo click, packager kit download, portal click.
  2. GA4 is already connected under Developer tools > External API keys: do not add a second tag.
  3. GA4 > Admin > Events: mark those events as key events. Start with file_download.
  4. Squarespace forms do not send GA4 events by themselves: add a small footer script for form submit, phone and email clicks, or send forms to a thank-you page and count that page.
  5. Link GA4 with Search Console; turn on Consent Mode for visitors from Germany.
  6. Only if paid campaigns start: add the LinkedIn Insight Tag and the Google Ads tag by code injection.

29 Spanish and German pages for the markets EKU sells in 56 Later Needs an EKU decision New content and pages 6 to 8 weeks
Why

The site is English only (lang en-US, no hreflang) while Search Console shows Germany with 33.5% of all clicks since November 2025 and 47% last month, almost all for the EKU name, and Argentina with 7.3%. Legal pages already exist in German and Spanish.

How to do it
  1. Start with three landing pages per language (home, Maximus, idle management), not the whole site.
  2. hreflang tags by page header injection; one language per URL.

30 List the Maximus ecosystem where software and industrial buyers compare 54 Months 2 and 3 Gated Off-site entity and GEO 2 weeks
Why

A multi-brand monitoring rival is listed on the main software review directories; EKU is not. Industrial buyers also search supplier directories.

How to do it
  1. Create listings on the main software review directories and one industrial supplier directory.
  2. Same approved description, categories and screenshots everywhere.

Gate Outreach authorization from the marketing lead; claims in listings follow D05.

Why

Buyers and AI assistants ask 'what is a generator controller', 'what is paralleling switchgear' and 'what is idle management'. Short, exact answers are the pages AI quotes most.

How to do it
  1. Six entries of 150 to 300 words each, one question per page, linked to the product pages.
  2. DefinedTerm or FAQPage schema.

33 Keep the data center page as a draft until the segment decision 52 Months 2 and 3 Gated New content and pages 1 week after the decision
Why

Ten changes are specified for a data center page, but the segment and the controller compatibility list are still gated. Data center terms are fully occupied by large rivals today.

How to do it
  1. Leadership decides whether the data center segment goes public and which of the 3 proposed URLs to use.
  2. Publish only after that decision and the compatibility list (E2).

34 Run a monthly technical hygiene check 50 Months 2 and 3 Ready Measurement a monthly routine
Why

Linking sites rose from 208 to 248 in August to 377 on 23 Sep. The rise is a wave of automated link-network pages first seen in the last two weeks, with anchors such as 'high quality dofollow backlinks', and many reach /helios through a redirect from mobiles-solardach.de. Google's own sample of 75 linking domains contains none of them, so no disavow is needed now. The technical crawl rerun on 23 Sep scores 87 of 100, up from 84 once 68 broken outbound links disappeared, and /home-page duplicates the home page.

How to do it
  1. Search Console: 404s, pages crawled but not indexed, sitemap resubmission.
  2. Review the newest linking sites; disavow only if a harmful pattern appears.
  3. Confirm who controls mobiles-solardach.de: it redirects to /helios and receives many of the new automated links.
  4. Confirm the AI crawler setting stays off in Squarespace and run a fresh crawl.

Why

Nine fixes are specified for /mining (its figures sit in a PDF viewer crawlers cannot read) and the /mining/africa mockup is built with EKU's design tokens and schema; the positioning sentence is pending ratification.

How to do it
  1. Build the page from the mockup once the sentence is ratified.
  2. Link it from /mining.

Why

An internal product codename (governance note) appears on six pages and in a datasheet, while the brand rules keep it internal in commercial copy.

How to do it
  1. Resize images to 2,500 px wide or less and under 300 KB before upload.

How to do it
  1. Squarespace cannot host files at the root: upload llms.txt as a file (it becomes /s/llms.txt).

42 Test paid search and LinkedIn on the open buyer terms, only after the pages exist 36 Months 2 and 3 Needs an EKU decision Paid media Set up 1 week; run 8 weeks
Why

Eleven of 18 rivals run ads this month, mostly about data centers; only one buys the all-brand monitoring message in US search and no advertiser seen buys mixed-fleet controls. EKU runs no paid ads and has no ads account (confirmed on 23 Sep), so the paid baseline is zero. The open buyer terms have a modeled cost per click of about 1.50 to 3.40 USD.

How to do it
  1. Start only after the monitoring and control panel pages are live and GA4 key events work.
  2. 8-week search test on the four open buyer terms and mixed-fleet problem phrases; exclude residential terms (home standby, storms, RV).
  3. Small LinkedIn campaign to packagers and oilfield operators in Texas around the case study launch, after installing the LinkedIn Insight Tag.
  4. Brand campaign only if a rival starts bidding on the EKU name.
  5. Fixed monthly cap chosen by leadership; review weekly against GA4 key events.

  • DEIF, Trackunit, Aggreko, Rehlko, Generac, Caterpillar and another major engine maker run campaigns on Google plus LinkedIn or Meta, with ads shown on 23 September. mtu, OmniMetrix, SmartGen and the complete-power-solutions player keep smaller campaigns running. ComAp has not run US search ads since 1 April.
  • Data centers are the paid B2B theme: Rehlko (all 77 recent LinkedIn ads), another major engine maker (54), Aggreko (bridging power plus storage in four languages), Generac and Caterpillar; mtu buys US search on data center power. Their angle is one trusted partner and uptime. None sells coordinating the mixed assets a customer already owns.
  • Only one rival buys the all-brand monitoring message in US search: OmniMetrix, running since 2021, naming the four largest generator makers. A residential KOHLER service ad offers service on every brand. The controls-and-orchestration version of the mixed-fleet message is unclaimed in paid media.
  • The closest paid messages to the Maximus ecosystem: a Caterpillar supervisory-control ad for whole hybrid energy systems (delivered mostly in Latin America), Cat gensets sold with monitoring packages, and a SmartGen cloud monitoring module.
  • Where: Germany carries the largest visible push (a Caterpillar German-language outage video, DEIF with about 400 Google ads there). In Texas, Aggreko buys local map ads in Pearland and the home-generator brands run hurricane-season ads. Generac and Cat also advertise in Spanish for Latin America.
  • Spend is not visible: the libraries show which ads ran and when, and give impression ranges only for EU delivery. No spend figure is stated or estimated here.
What EKU should do with this
  • Do not follow the data center spending: that lane is crowded with the largest manufacturers, and EKU's difference is coordinating what customers already own.
  • After the monitoring and control panel pages are live and lead tracking works, run an 8-week search test on the four open buyer terms and on mixed-fleet problem phrases, excluding residential terms (home standby, storms) that the big brands already buy.
  • Use LinkedIn, where the B2B rivals advertise, for a small campaign to packagers and oilfield operators in Texas around the case study launch, after installing the LinkedIn Insight Tag.
  • Open a brand campaign only if a rival starts bidding on searches for the EKU name; none was seen in the libraries.
  • Review the libraries monthly for OmniMetrix and Trackunit, the two rivals selling the all-brand idea in paid media.

Sources: Google Ads Transparency Center and LinkedIn Ad Library, public searches by advertiser, checked 23 Sep 2026; Meta Ad Library where reachable without login. The libraries show which ads ran and when, not how much was spent: spend is not stated here. Confirmed = seen in the library with a date.

What this means

The first week removes the public errors; everything after it turns 90 days of written work into pages Google and AI assistants can read.

Strategic conclusion

The site is the bottleneck, not the strategy: the language, pages and proof exist, and the live site contradicts them.

Commercial implication

Until the buyer pages are live, about 890 monthly US searches and every AI answer on mixed-brand fleets go to rivals by default.

Recommended use

Work plan for the EKU web admin, IT and marketing lead from 29 September; import the CSV into the team's task tool and review scores every two weeks.

Validation status

Findings observed on the live site and public sources on 23 September; scores are Kanbina Lumina estimates (Working Hypothesis). Claims on new pages follow the D05 sign-off.

Decisions and sign-offs that unlock the plan

Seven decisions and four sign-offs decide how much of the plan can ship before December.

Open the decision checklist
  1. Is the Odoo website in use? If not, unpublish it; if yes, noindex it and remove the template phone.
  2. Keep, prove or rewrite the 'market leader' line on the About page.
  3. Restore the daily rank tracking list to the full buyer keyword set.
  4. Who adds the form-tracking script in Squarespace, and whether to turn on Consent Mode.
  5. Public name of the field controller.
  6. Whether and when to test paid search, and the monthly cap.
  7. Spanish and German pages: now, in 2027, or not at all.
  8. Sign-off: technical claims D05 (dated 15 Oct) unlocks the home, Maximus and power-generation pages, the monitoring page and the FAQ hub.
  9. Sign-off: customer permission and figures (C1, C4) and the ESC gates unlock the two case studies.
  10. Sign-off: the controller compatibility list (E2) and the GeneSys role (E4) unlock the control panel page and spec tables.
  11. Sign-off: outreach authorization from the marketing lead unlocks directories and press.
